A Birdwatcher's Paradise at Stifler Site

Large forests of mixed deciduous trees are diminishing rapidly, as human land use uses tend to break them into small pieces of once-continuous woodland. Biologists refer to such tracts as "interior woodlands" and the many bird species that must have such large tracts to survive as "interior woodland species" and "interior woodland species habitat".

The Stifler Conservation Area, now part of the 650-acre Palmer State Park, provides such habitat to the species listed and pictured here. We have not seen or heard each and every species in this area, but we can expect to find them there.
