Riding through the My Lady's Manor National Historic District
Second Annual Trail Ride
The Manor Conservancy (TMC) and the Harford Land Trust held their second Annual Trail Ride on Sunday, November 16, 2003 in the My Lady's Manor National Historic District of northwestern Harford County and northeastern Baltimore County. These conservation organizations had

sponsored the first Trail Ride one year ago in the Lower Deer Creek Valley Rural Legacy area (See also our "1st Annual Trail Ride").
This time, approximately 65 riders started and completed their ride at the farm of Anne and Robert Kinsley and for four hours road across ten farms that are protected by Conservation Easements in perpetuity. The weather was superb for this event, and the riders organized themselves in four groups ranging between Fast and Slow. Like last year's group, several riders could ride like Cossacks, and others were more deliberate. Once again, Don Edwards of Pennsylvania rode his highly admired gaited mule. There was plenty of scope for all, and the event was rated "a great success."

Once again, the TMC-HLT Trail Ride benefited from the generosity of local citizens and firms: First of all, the owners of the ten farms, like the Kinsleys, that gave us permission to ride across their property; Josh Taylor of MidlanticPromotions Ltd. of Kennett Square who provided commemorative T-shirts; the Klein Supermarkets of Harford County who supplied the food for the riders' lunches, and Vicki Miller of Jarrettsville who once again donated two cases of wine to refresh the riders at the end. Page L. Edwards and Peter A. Jay provided the vital services of wranglers, rescue men, and traffic controllers, but no one fell off this year, or got kicked.

In addition to having had a fine day, The Manor Conservancy and Harford Land Trust raised $3,000 to support their land conservation efforts. As we did in 2002, each rider received a one-year membership in each of the two land trusts.
