Pig Pick 2008, A Night to Remember |

Nearly 600 people laughed,
ate and danced the night away at the beautiful farm of Kathy and Jim
Paquette on October 19. It was a very special night for the Harford
Land Trust and The Highland School as we were the recipients of the
Paquette’s annual charity event. Under a full moon, partiers made their
way through the expansive feast catered by Torinos’ Restaurant and
topped off with a cooked-to-perfection 4-H pig donated by HLT board
members John Rigdon and Harry Webster.
Outside the massive dining tent, guests could get warm and chat by a roaring bonfire or try their luck at the Big 6 Wheel. A stroll behind the barn took visitors to all-you-could-eat oysters. The cool night heated up quickly when the Route One Band began to play in a huge barn loft and the dancing began. The dance floor was also the site for the massive “pig drop” where hundreds of stuffed pigs, many marked with prize-winning numbers, were dropped from a suspended net onto the dance floor. Lucky recipients received generous gift certificates from local businesses.
This was the 12th Pig Pick hosted by the Paquettes at their Glenville farm with proceeds each year going to a local charity. Some of those benefiting from their generosity and that of their guests and sponsors have been the Boys and Girls Clubs of Harford County, Level Volunteer Fire Department, The Highland School and other charities. “One of the side benefits was getting to know more about The Highland School and working with their Development Director Kathy Casey”, said Pig Pick Chairman, John Rigdon. The Harford Land Trust is honored to have been included in this year’s event. We wish to thank the following for their sponsorship of Pig Pick 2008:
