Projects

The Harford Land Trust has protected more than 865 acres since 1991. It presently owns 194 acres and is responsible for perpetual Conservation Easements and other deed restrictions on 494 acres, which are privately owned and not open to the public. Its main activities, however, are (1) purchasing open land to prevent its development and (2) showing private landowners how to utilize the various local and state programs for selling or donating development rights in exchange for Conservation Easements. The Trust offers information and confidential advice about these methods without charge or obligation to the owners.

The following are some of the projects we have done since 1991. It allows us to give you an overview about our work:

N/O 14/15	Forest Greens Lake Preserve(1992) - 145 acres Perryman area from the heirs of the developers "Trustees of Forest Greens, Inc."
M 15	Otter Creek Woods (1994) - 104 acres near the Bush River
O 9/10	Edwards-Beamer Woods (1992) - 20 acres
J 8	Stifler-Deer Creek (1994) - 34 acres wooded frontage on Deer Creek
F 2	Falling Branch Falls (1993) -23 acres containing "Kilgore Falls" on Falling Branch Falls East Buffer (1997) - 62 acres farm of the late Rebecca E. DeVoe
E 2/3	Barbara Siebens' Gift (1996) - 40 acres upland forest along upper Deer Creek to the Trust
I 15	V. B. Hirshauer Trust Property (2001) - 32 acres surrounding the Anita C. Leight Estuary Center on the Bush River
L 15/16	Former Gertrude E. Parks Property (2002) - 45 acres farmland, woodland and wetland adjacent to Otter Creek and the 350-acre Bosley Conservancy
E/F 1/2	Former James R. Kelly, Jr Property (2004) - 75 acres unspoiled acreage of mature deciduous forest through which flows Big Branch, a major tributary of Deer Creek
