Meeting the challenge
of keeping our members engaged and entertained when our current economy meant free
activities only for 2009 was easy - we turned to Mother Nature, some of her
talented friends, and our beautiful Harford
County lands.

On Saturday, March 21 the
Harford Land Trust celebrated a highly successful year in 2008 at its annual
membership meeting. There were 87
members and guests in attendance at the 17th annual meeting held at Camp Hidden
Valley, a beautiful wooded retreat on preserved land overlooking Deer Creek just
outside of Norrisville. An
important theme present throughout the meeting was the importance of youth to
the future of land preservation.

Nearly 600 people laughed,
ate and danced the night away at the beautiful farm of Kathy and Jim
Paquette on October 19. It was a very special night for the Harford
Land Trust and The Highland School as we were the recipients of the
Paquette’s annual charity event. Under a full moon, partiers made their
way through the expansive feast catered by Torinos’ Restaurant and
topped off with a cooked-to-perfection 4-H pig donated by HLT board
members John Rigdon and Harry Webster.

A wonderful time was had by all on the three-hour cruise of the lower
Susquehanna River on a beautiful July afternoon. Setting sail from
historic Havre de Grace, friends socialized over drinks and hors
d’oeuvres and took in the sights from the open upper deck or from the
air-conditioned salon.
